For those who have been wondering what Yoshi's bare feet look like, the answer was revealed through a Super Mario World children's activity book in 1998. Yoshi has been Mario's loyal companion since 1991, but has always adorned a pair of shiny red shoes which have apparently raised the question, what do Yoshi's feet look like?
Since his first appearance in Yoshi in 1991, the cute rideable dino has shown up in Super Mario games and his own line of platformers. Yoshi has always appeared wearing a red saddle-like shell and a matching pair of red boots. Recently, a series of really weird Nintendo leaks revealed that the shell on Yoshi's back could be removed. Many Super Mario fans assumed Yoshi's shell and shoes were similar to the Toads' mushroom hats, which are really a part of their heads. That is until an image surfaced showing Yoshi's bare feet, toes and all.
Twitter user VideoGameArt&Tidbits recently posted an image of a crying Yoshi who has seemingly lost his shoe. He is pictured pointing at his right foot, which is missing one of his famous red boots. For the first and final time, Nintendo has officially revealed what Yoshi's bare feet look like. A green, three-toed paw with a white circle on the bottom. This image is pulled from a Japanese Super Mario World story and activity book for children that was published in 1998. The page features Yoshi alongside some of King Bowser's minions, and asks the reader to find which minion has stolen Yoshi's shoe. This not only reveals Yoshi's feet, but also shows that Bowser's minions are also wearing shoes.
Before VideoGameArt&Tidbits' post, Yoshi's bare feet have been up for discussion for several years. Discussions on forums such as DeviantArt and GBATemp have often questioned what Yoshi's feet look like, each ending with someone posting the image above. While Yoshi's feet can be found in a licensed and published piece of physical merchandise, they are very elusive online. Googling "Yoshi's Feet" (which is highly unrecommended) will net the searcher thousands of pictures of NSFW fan-art instead of the official artwork from Nintendo.
Regardless, the internet now has the definitive answer that Yoshi fans have been looking for. Yoshi's feet are small, green, and only have three toes. No more need for perplexingly erotic pictures of Yoshi with huge and/or human feet. Now that that's settled, maybe "Yoshi's Feet" can become a safe-for-work search term instead of the bewildering trove of fan art it is now.
