To All The Boys I've Loved Before: The Main Characters, Ranked By Likability

For the last four years, To All The Boys has dominated the teen romantic comedy genre. The movies, which were inspired by the best-selling young adult series written by Jenny Han, have rejuvenized the teen romantic comedy genre and have gone on to become some of the most rewatched movies in Netflix history.

While each movie tells a heartfelt story with tons of romantic gestures to woo even the most cynical audiences, it's really the characters that have forced audiences to keep tuning in. From hopeless romantic Lara Jean to her wannabee matchmaker sister and of course, heartthrob Peter, every To All The Boys fan has a favorite character. With To All The Boys: Always and Forever being the final movie, some of the fans' most beloved characters went through character development that helped or hurt them.

10 Margot

Margot Song Covey is the eldest Covey sister and as such, she feels a great responsibility to look out for her younger sisters. In the first movie, Margot attends college in Scotland which takes her out of the everyday activities of the movie. Unfortunately, Margot stays as a background character for the remaining two movies and yet, she still finds a way to meddle in her sisters' lives.

While Margot means well, she can often come off as pushy which is why fans tend to gravitate away from her. One of the most annoying things about Margot, especially in the final film, is that she always thinks she knows what best. Not only that, but she's also the only sister to have an issue with Trina marrying their dad.

9 Gen

Gen may have started out as the number one villain in To All The Boys I've Loved Before but she had quite the redemption in the remaining two movies. For starters, in To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, Gen and Lara Jean finally hash out their rivalry and mutual feelings for Peter.

With Gen and Lara Jean on talking terms, the two are able to further bond in the final movie. Not only does Gen compliment Lara Jean's shoes but they also both bond over their shared love of New York and NYU. These subtle changes made fans realize that Gen was never truly the villain, just a heartbroken girl who was a little jealous of Lara Jean.

8 Trevor

Trevor joined the To All The Boys family during To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You and stuck around for the final movie which has earned him an official ranking. Though Trevor doesn't have a huge role in the movies, he has managed to win over fans' hearts thanks to his relationship with Chris.

Trevor really won fans over in To All The Boys: Always and Forever thanks to his adorable promposal to Chris, which included a bouquet of Subway sandwiches. Trevor also became a fan-favorite because of his epic bromance with Peter, especially during the New York trip.

7 Trina

Fans of the To All The books have fond memories of Trina which is why many were upset when she was left out of most of To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. Thankfully, the third movie redeemed itself and fans were able to fall more in love with Trina than ever before.

Being a step-mother can be hard, especially when the biological mother has passed away but Trina does it with a special kind of grace. She always knows the perfect thing to say to the Covey girls to cheer them up while being careful not to overstep her role. Not only that, but she makes Dan happy which, in turn, makes fans happy.

6 Dan

Parent characters in teenage movies are always hit or miss. They either end up trying too hard or not hard enough but somehow Dan Covey manages to find the perfect balance becoming one of the best parents in teen movies of all time. Dan has always been there for his three daughters and none of that changed in the final movie, even if he was planning a wedding on top of everything else.

Fans love how considerate Dan was by asking the girls what they thought of him proposing and they really loved that Dan encouraged Lara Jean to follow her dreams and stay true to herself even if that meant she'd be going halfway across the country for school. Not to mention, he never got weird or overly protective when Kitty showed an interest in boys. If there was an award for film parents, Dan would definitely win best movie dad.

5 Lucas

Lucas could have been just another side character in the To All The Boys world but thankfully that was not the case and he went on to become a fan-favorite. Lucas arguably had the best reaction to receiving one of Lara Jean's love letters which jumpstarted their epic friendship.

And over the next two movies, Lucas proved himself to be Team Lara Jean. He was always there for her, encouraging her and giving her advice when she got in her own head. And he also made the perfect wingman for Trevor when it came to getting Chris to go to prom with him.

4 Chris

Chris has been in Lara Jean's corner from day one and that's part of the reason fans love her so much. Chris showed off her ride-or-die friendship in the first movie by accompanying Lara Jean on the ski trip and her support of her never wavered.

Fans really got to see Chris's true colors in To All The Boys: Always and Forever when she showed up after prom to console a heartbroken Lara Jean following the breakup. What makes this scene so great is that Chris doesn't gloat about her getting back with Trevor and instead focuses all her energy on building Lara Jean up and making her realize that she has to do whatever makes her happy even if it means losing Peter.

3 Kitty

Kitty may have taken a page out of Margo's book when it comes to meddling in her family's lives but she manages to do it in a more successful and cute way. After all, without Kitty, Lara Jean and Peter would have never been a couple which is part of the reason fans love her so much.

Though Kitty has always played a major role in the movies, fans really got to see her come into her own in this last one. Watching Kitty experience a crush for the first time was one of the cutest things ever and it gave fans some great quotes. Not to mention, Kitty helped Peter get back with Lara Jean which truly makes her the best wing woman/matchmaker ever.

2 Peter

When it comes to leading men in romantic comedies, Peter Kavinsky has certainly set the standard high. He knocked it out of the park in the first movie and only managed to up the game in the next two.

Though Peter does have his flaws, he is the most vulnerable he's ever been in To All The Boys: Always and Forever which is what makes fans fall so in love with him. Though family drama and the possibility of a long-distance relationship threaten to ruin Peter's happiness, he manages to dig deep and figures out what truly matters  - his happiness. In the end, Peter redeems himself as the king of romantic gestures and the number one boy in To All The Boys fans' hearts.

1 Lara Jean

The truth of the matter is, there simply would be no To All The Boys without Lara Jean. The stories have always been about her and the stories would be nothing without her hopeless romantic yet anxious personality.

Over the three movies, fans have watched Lara Jean blossom from a girl who hid behind the pages of romance novels because she was afraid to get hurt to one who isn't afraid to put herself out there and chase her dreams. And through it all, she never lost sight of the things that made her, her: things like her quirkiness and kindness.
