Whether known as "9ft tall vampire mommy", "resident evil vampire lady" or Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, the bewitching villain of Resident Evil Village, the eighth installment in the wildly popular horror survival series Resident Evil has swept the internet. With her imposing height, devilish smile, and intriguing vintage wardrobe, the Resident Evil 8 villain is one of the most memorable antagonists yet to be seen in the games.
Making her debut appearance in the trailer for the upcoming game, Lady Dimitrescu doesn't have many scenes, but what few glimpses fans get of her are striking. She left enough of an impression on the cosplay community for fans to want to bring her to life, and these are the best incarnations seen so far.
Updated on July 3rd, 2021 by Kayleena Pierce-Bohen: Now that fans of Resident Evil Village have been able to play the much-anticipated game thoroughly, there have been more Lady Dimitrescu cosplays than ever before. Resident Evil cosplayers represent a wide variety of fans, and there are even a few Lord Dimitrescus to prove that anyone can embrace their inner tall vampire lady. Those that have been anxious to slip into the iconic Lady Dimitrescu dress and hat have proven that anyone can make it convincing -- provided they have her killer attitude!
15 Sonia Garcia Rhiwen
Looking from a screen capture of Lady Dimitrescu to cosplayer Sonia García Rhiwen, fans would be hard-pressed to spot the difference between them! Rhiwen has masterfully recreated everything from the character's costume, right down to the correct length of pearl necklace and matching earrings.
Not only are all her accessories on point, but she's also recreated the ashy, undead look of Lady Dimitrescu's makeup, accomplished by lots of pale setting powder and beguiling copper-red lipstick. Best of all, she's weathered everything to give her ensemble a dated look, as though she's been trapped in Castle Dimitrescu for decades.
14 DJCroft
Not every Lady Dimitrescu cosplay incorporates every exact element from her outfit in Resident Evil Village. Sometimes her fans decide to present her wearing an ensemble that evokes her intimidating aura without strictly adhering to screen accuracy, and the creative license isn't just appropriate, it's appreciated.
Cosplayer DJ Croft creates an imposing silhouette as a genderbend version of Lady Dimitrescu (he also does a great Lara Croft), foregoing her white dress in favor of a billowing ivory shirt, white pants, and a white corset. He retains her wide-brimmed hat, wicked claws, and black floral detail. All in all, this Resident Evil 8 cosplay is striking and original.
13 Crash Candy Cosplay
Lady Dimitrescu has never looked more appealing than when portrayed by Candy Crush Cosplay, who's captured her charisma with striking makeup and a bewitching smile. Her vigor and self-satisfaction are palpable, no doubt channeling the aristocrat herself after a few glasses of Sanguis Virginis, the red wine with a "thick bouquet" made exclusively by Castle Dimitrescu.
This cosplayer created this look with elements she already had in her closet, which not only highlights her talent in the subgenre of quick cosplay but the concept that cosplays don't have to be elaborate or expensive to faithfully recreate a character.
12 Alexia Salles
Proving that the secret to convincingly portraying Lady Dimitrescu goes beyond a big hat and a string of pearls, cosplayer Alexia Salles brings other elements into her interpretation, including the character's long black gloves.
Not only has Salles perfectly presented Lady Dimitrescu's makeup, expression, and flare for the dramatic, she's given her picture a vintage filter that only adds to the sense of decay fans get when they see her in the trailer.
11 Danielle DeNicola
At one point in the trailer for Resident Evil Village, Ethan Winters encounters Lady Dimitrescu when she's out for blood and showcasing a clawed hand. Presumably some sort of gloved weapon, it features blades that are several feet long, perfectly recreated here by Danielle DeNicola.
Not only has this cosplayer captured the danger inherent to the towering vampiress, but she's also not opted for the typical smiling photo that's become such a popular screenshot from the trailer. The lighting, pose, and ensemble makes for one dynamic, statuesque shot that also highlights Lady Dimitrescu's height.
10 Maria Bekker
One of Lady Dimitrescu's most salient qualities (other than her height) is her yellow eyes which, aside from her deathly pallor, immediately grabbed fans' attention in the game trailer. Cosplayer Maria Bekker has used an editing program to great effect capturing the spooky effect.
Fans have wondered if Lady Dimitrescu could possibly be a vampire, especially given the "special ingredient" in the goblets, bottles, and barrels of wine found all around Castle Dimitrescu. If she indeed maintains her age and beauty by drinking blood, what is bekker_cosplay's secret for such an ethereal glow?
9 Helena Mankowska
There is perhaps no one to do better service to Lady Dimitrescu than her official face model. Helena Mankowska, who provided the inspiration for the villain from Resident Evil Village was actually persuaded to dress up like the 9ft vampire lady, and the results were nothing short of terrifying.
Browse through Mankowska's Instagram and Resident Evil 8 fans will see a dozen pictures of her as Lady Dimitrescu looking like the stunning vampire she is, with creative use of professional lighting, makeup, and costuming capturing her in cinematic quality. Of course, it helps that she looks exactly like her!
8 Docktercosplay
Cosplaying doesn't have to be a competition that only the most affluent individuals win, as proved by Redditor KilljoyK8 when creating their Lady Dimitrescu cosplay. As they explained on r/residentevil, they made her Edwardian style "S-curve silhouette" dress out of a bedsheet, and the necklace out of disassembled gold angel wings purchased at Hobby Lobby.
They even went so far as to compose their ensemble based on when they thought Lady Dimitrescu was "turned" into a vampire, which they placed somewhere before 1905.
7 Lord Zorb
Twitter user Lord Zorb chose to give Lady Dimitrescu a more typical Victorian appearance, with a much more detailed blouse, and a fancy lace choker in lieu of a string of pearls. She's managed to still convey her timeless elegance and style, while still making the cosplay unique to the wearer.
Whether through the use of editing software or with contacts she's made sure to get Lady Dimitrescu's yellow eyes, and made herself look as sallow as possible. Even her sickly complexion can't detract from her beguiling smile, which is both charming and creepy.
6 Taryn Cosplay
Looking at Taryn Cosplay's "Lord Dimitrescu", it's hard to believe that he's not a video game character himself. With incredible lighting, crisp lines, and blemish-free skin, he might as well have walked right out of the library in Castle Dimitrescu.
With his long hair, facial hair, and wide-brimmed hat, he could have an outfit straight from the set of Pirates of the Caribbean, but that's what makes the cosplaying community so welcoming; every fan's interpretation of a character is welcome and encouraged.
5 Lana Bachynski
Lady Dimitrescu is a tall, shapely character that conveys the broad spectrum of characters possible in games, as well as the audience who plays them. Twitter user Lana Bachynski is keen to point this out, and celebrate the visible representation.
This cosplayer may not be as deathly pale as her counterparts, and her ensemble may be a greater deviation from the one seen in the game, but she still expresses the charming lethality of the character, lulling Ethan Winters (or Chris Redfield) into a false state of security.
4 Loveless Rose
While cosplay is a profession and hobby that embraces fans of all shapes and sizes, there can often be a lack of characters that reflect fan proportions. Lady Dimitrescu herself is tall and voluptuous, which can be difficult to capture in photographs no matter a fans' height, but cosplayer Loveless Rose manages to pull it off.
With an icy stare from beneath her wide-brimmed hat, Loveless Rose makes her a character not to be trifled with, while emphasizing her prominent hourglass shape in a way that reflects the exaggerated dimensions she has in the trailer.
3 Yayahan
One of the most famous names in the world of cosplay, Yaya Han is known for making incredibly accurate outfits to coincide with the release of movies, television series, comic books, and video games. It was only going to be a matter of time before she brought Lady Dimitrescu to life, and when it finally happened she didn't disappoint!
Teaming up with Capcom for a big announcement, Yaya Han blew fans away with a video on Twitter not only showing her Lady Dimitrescu cosplay in action but providing thorough instructions on her creative process. Watching her move as the Resident Evil Village villain transports fans right back into the game -- unfortunately to where Ethan Winters gets killed!
2 Ceekayecosplays
Even before Resident Evil Village premiered, fans had already fallen in love with the tall vampire lady, and using only screenshots from the trailer, pieced together their Lady Dimitrescu cosplays. Once the game came out they got to refine her outfit and accouterments, eventually perfecting her down to every last interesting detail.
Ceekayecosplays was able to keep returning to her Lady Dimitrescu cosplay over time, making small tweaks and changes until she was satisfied that everything from the dress, to the hat, to the pearls was perfect. You can tell by her smile that she's pleased with the amazing cosplay she's created.
1 Danidarkan
To some Lady Dimitrescu may be beguiling but to others, she's one of the most terrifying monsters to have come from the Resident Evil franchise. Cosplayer danidarkan shows that even if someone isn't 8 feet tall, they can be plenty scary with some effective makeup and sfx contacts.
Her makeup is sufficiently frightening, but her Lady Dimitrescu is no less appealing, especially given her piercing white gaze. Perhaps this is a version of the character in the full bloom of rejuvenation after several glasses of Sanguis Virginis.
