The Baby-Sitters Club: 5 Of The Worst Things Kristy Did (& 5 Times She Wasn’t That Bad)

Kristy Thomas is the founder and president of the Baby-Sitters Club. She's a strong-willed, independent little lady who's ready to take on the world. For such a young girl, Kristy is an old soul on a mission to become a helpful business mogul.

Although Kristy is entering the eighth grade in Netflix's The Baby-Sitters Club, she's had some upsetting experiences with her friends and family. She's dealing with a mother who's remarrying, an absent father, and the roller coaster of friendship. This drama gives Kristy her share of low moments, but her unsinkable spirit sees that she has plenty of highs, too.

10 Worst: When She Made The Girls Feel Bad About Being Busy

In the opening episode of The Baby-Sitters Club, viewers learned a lot about Kristy and why she acts the way she does. She has three siblings, a single mother, and was trying to get the Baby-Sitters Club off the ground. Sadly, Kristy was a little too vocally aggressive.

When her soon-to-be stepdad called looking for a babysitter, Kristy is annoyed when the girls want to help him and kept claiming the club was "hers" and what she says goes because she's the president. Claudia immediately reminds Kristy that it's due to her bossy nature that she stopped hanging out with her in the first place. To apologize, Kristy bought pizza and realized she needed to loosen the reigns.

9 Not That Bad: She Brought Fun Back To Camp Moosehead

Towards the end of season 1, the girls head off to Camp Moosehead to spend the summer together. Sadly, they were all separated and placed in different cabins. But being separated gave each girl a chance to bring something special to their cabin on their own.

Kristy made it her mission to bring the fun back to Camp Moosehead. She locked horns with the camp's director and tried to do more outdoor activities instead of staying inside all day watching TV. It was very brave of Kristy to go against the head of Camp Moosehead in her quest to make things better for the campers.

8 Worst: She Almost Ruined Her Mom's Wedding Day

It's obvious from the start that Kristy and her mother have a very close bond. As the only girl in the family (and the most responsible one), Mrs. Thomas relies heavily on Kristy when she's at work. Sadly, when her mom started getting more serious with Watson, Kristy rebelled. Things got worse on the day of the wedding when the two ladies got into an argument over Kristy's bridesmaid dress. Instead of taking accountability and understanding where her mother was coming from, Kristy told her she didn't want her to get married in the first place... Those mean words haunted her for the rest of the evening.

7 Not That Bad: She's A Fantastic Sister

Kristy may be controlling and an unintentional bully at times, but she's a caring young woman who means well. Her heart is always in the right place; she just has issues relaying her thoughts in a respectful manner.

But when it comes to her siblings (more notably her younger brother) and her new step-siblings, Kristy is all hands on deck. She loves little kids and adores taking care of them. She handles her younger brother with utmost love and care. It's very endearing.

6 Worst: She Almost Didn't Let Dawn Or Stacey Join The Club

Kristy's goal when creating the Baby-Sitters Club was to help as many parents in the neighborhood while also creating a successful business venture. She already had Claudia and Mary Anne in mind to help the club but when it came to newcomers, Kristy wasn't convinced. But she realized she needed more helping hands the busier the club got.

When Claudia introduced Stacey to the group, Kristy was hesitant but obliged when she realized Stacey was a marketing wiz. But when Mary Anne brought Dawn into the fold, Kristy was put off only because she was scared of losing Mary Anne to her new Californian friend. Kristy took her fears out on the new girls, which wasn't what the club needed.

5 Not That Bad: She Was There For Dawn When She Needed Her

As much as Kristy is threatened by Dawn's coolness, she was there for her when Dawn needed her most.

On Dawn's first babysitting gig with a messy family, she exceeded all expectations. However, when one of the kids in Dawn's care goes missing, the first person she called was Kristy. Instead of scolding Dawn, Kristy dropped what she was doing and helped Dawn in her time of need. It proved how much Kristy cared about the Baby-Sitters Club and Dawn's mindset.

4 Worst: She Talked Poorly About Mary Anne's Dad

In the second episode, Kristy becomes upset when Mary Anne's dad gives her a curfew, which could affect her job as a babysitter. Kristy is beyond annoyed and starts called Mary Anne's dad "crazy" and a "psychopath." Her words are pretty jarring, especially as Mary Anne's best friend. It eventually becomes too hard for Mary Anne to hear and Mary Anne retaliates with comments about Kristy not knowing what it was like to have a father. The tense moment was hard for the girls but wouldn't have happened if Kristy wasn't so rude about Mary Anne's dad.

3 Not That Bad: She Loves Her Friends

No matter how controlling or rude Kristy can be at times, she is a great friend who would do anything for them. She has these jealous outbursts because she cares and doesn't want to lose her friends. Luckily for Kristy, these girls are all there for each other. It's the whole reason Kristy started the Baby-Sitters Club in the first place — to create a closer bond with her friends while helping the community.

2 Worst: Her Control Issues Keep Her From Letting Go

Dawn said it best: "Behind every tantrum is something else." Kristy's "tantrums" come from a place of insecurity. Her dad left the family, her mom was starting a new relationship, and Kristy lost some friends along the way. Her outbursts come from fear. She doesn't mean to be overbearing but she's scared of losing those she loves most. By controlling everything around her, Kristy hopes it will keep her friends and family from leaving her. Sadly for her, she ends up pushing people away. By letting go and trusting those she loves, she could have a better relationship with everyone.

1 Not That Bad: She Warmed Up To Watson

After Kristy's outburst at the dinner table after hearing that her mom and Watson were engaged, fans weren't sure whether or not Kristy would be able to warm up to him. She was unnecessarily rude to him when he needed her help to babysit his kids as well (even though she literally created the Baby-Sitters Club). Luckily, she put her anger aside and realized he wasn't a bad guy. He loved her mother and she deserved someone who adored her. Kristy eventually told Watson she liked him, which was enough to put a huge smile on his face.
