Members of The Seven have become some of the most popular superpowered individuals across all forms of media, thanks to the critically-acclaimed Amazon series The Boys. The narrative of the show focuses on groups, rather than individuals, and this has led to the exploration of some great and odd friendships.
While there are great buddies on the show, there are even greater ones on the Dynamite Entertainment comics from which Amazon's offering was adapted. The friendships are all interesting but some come off as rather strange since the characters are nothing alike or hardly share goals and ambitions.
10 Billy Butcher And Old Legend
According to Butcher, Old Legend is referred to by this name because no one knows his actual identity. The creepy old man runs a comic book store and has an encyclopedic knowledge of every Supe. He normally refuses to talk to anyone else apart from Butcher.
The friendship is an odd one because Old Legend's morality has been called into question a number of times. He has been seen lusting over some of his younger customers and is generally unable to control his sexual urges. Butcher, on the other hand, detests anyone who has traces of immorality inside them.
9 The Female & The Local Mafia
The Female is undoubtedly one of the best-written characters in The Boys comics. She is kept in a cage for most of her life after killing the scientist that discovered her as a baby. The Boys later rescue her and make her a member of the team.
Even after aligning herself with The Boys, The Female befriends members of a crime family known as The Local Mafia and conducts killings for them. Her friendship with the mob goes against the policy of The Boys who are hellbent on not only eliminating The Seven but everyone else that's exploiting citizens for their own benefit.
8 Homelander And Soldier Boy
Soldier Boy isn't too happy with his position as the elected leader of Payback so he does his best to please Homelander in order to join The Seven. However, Homelander, who is one of the most villainous members of The Seven, only uses him for his own benefit and doesn't intend to make him part of the team.
Soldier Boy is cowardly hence it's strange that Homelander would even tolerate him. The Supe-in-Chief is known to be ruthless to anyone he perceives as weak. Soldier Boy is also a bit well-mannered since he refuses to use foul language and attend sex parties. It makes little sense for him to hang out with the highly immoral Homelander and agree to his demands.
7 Wee Hughie & Vasilii "Vas" Vorishikin aka Love Sausage
Vas is introduced as an ex-tank commander from a past tyrannical Soviet regime. He uses his incredibly strong phallus as a weapon and prefers to drink brake fluid instead of alcohol. He and Hughie bond and become friends when Butcher recruits him to help in the fight against Stormfront.
Hughie must have learned about Vas' background, so it's a shocker that he would remain friends with him. As a soldier, Vas apparently terrorized citizens of countries that opposed the Soviet regime, even killing some.
6 Queen Maeve And Starlight
In the series, Queen Maeve and Starlight's friendship comes off as natural because they are both good-hearted Supes who aren't too happy about the practices of Vought International. In the comics, Maeve is extremely evil. She is brutal towards new recruits and unapologetically heartbreaks several male Supes. Strangely enough, she warms up to Starlight.
Befriending Starlight is against Queen Maeve's character since they have very little in common. Starlight believes in true love while Maeve believes in strictly physical relationships. Despite their difference in ideologies, the two spend a lot of time together. Maeve's friendly love for Starlight eventually leads to her death when Homelander and Black Noir murder her for protecting the good-hearted Supe.
5 A-Train & Jack From Jupiter
Jack From Jupiter is one of the Supes only comic fans know about. He enjoys the perks that come with being a member of The Seven, though he doesn't have the same star appeal as the rest of his colleagues. For this reason, he is despised by everyone except A-Train, who spends a lot of time chatting with him.
The fame-obsessed A-Train's association with Jack From Jupiter has no proper basis. Since A-Train lives for the attention, he would logically want to avoid Jack From Jupiter like other members of The Seven do. After all, he adds no value to his goal to become more famous. Given A-Train's personality, he'd be expected to snub Jack the most.
4 Tek Knight & The Talon's
The Talon's hates chaos so much that she decides to go live in a foreign country. Though she has special abilities, she doesn't enjoy using them and prefers to live a normal life. She briefly returns to the US where she is seen to be friends with Tek Knight.
Tek Knight, a founding member of Payback happens to be one of the most chaotic characters in the comics. It's thus a mystery what The Talon's sees in him. Though he doesn't have powers, his special suit enables him to destroy things and carry out robberies. There is no explanation as to how he became friends with The Talon's.
3 James Stillwell & Jessica Bradley
The gender of Stillwell—the assistant of Vought's CEO, Mr. Edgar—is one of the major differences between the comics and the show. Stillwell is a man in the comics, compared to the show where the character is female. He forms a strong friendship with Vought's senior VA officer Jessica Bradley but ends up setting her up to take the fall for the company.
There is no logical explanation as to why Stillwell, who is totally okay with all the sins that the Supes commit, would appoint Bradley. The VA constantly complains about the illegal and immoral practices of Vought. Stillwell would do his job better if he had someone who fully supports the company's activities.
2 Oh Father & Homelander
Preacher Oh Father is the biggest sinner of them all. While his TV counterpart has the ability to elongate his body parts, Oh Father doesn't appear to have any unique abilities in the comics. Still, Homelander befriends him and asks for his help in taking over the world.
Since Homelander has very capable members of The Seven under his command, he doesn't need Oh Father. During the White House attack by Homelander, Oh Father fails to help in any way and is easily taken out by the military. Homelander isn't a spiritual person either, which makes his friendship with Oh Father even more baffling.
1 Mother's Milk & The Frenchman
Both members of The Boys are good at their job, with Mother's Milk being great at intimidating people and The Frenchman being an effective killing machine. The two like each other but quarrel all the time.
Given how often they argue, the two would be better off staying associates rather than staying friends. Mother's Milk's love for Compound V conflicts with The Frenchman's hatred for it. The Frenchman tends to be more reserved too while Mother's Milk is very outgoing and aggressive.
