There are a number of particularly bizarre things about Terry Pratchett's Discworld and the 41 novels set there. The Discworld is full of unique characters, such as the walking biological enigma Nobby Nobbs or the eternal opportunist Cut-Me-Own-Throat Dibbler, to say nothing of the Disc's anthropomorphic Death and his enduring love of cats. It's also a notably convoluted series of books – reading Discworld in order requires a flow chart, or at least a willingness to leap into a book with little to no context.
