Dune: Part Two would go on to make over $714 million worldwide, becoming the sixth-highest grossing film of 2024. One week later, the animated franchise sequel Kung Fu Panda 4 was released in theaters, which also ended up in the top 10 highest grossers of the year. The release calendar became littered with other moneymaking franchise titles, including Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Despicable Me 4.
