Toei recently welcomed a dramatic shift in the production of One Piece that helped make the anime better than ever, but a recent decision runs the risk of ruining that momentum. Since 1999, the animators have been releasing a new episode of the anime almost every week, resulting in more than 1155 episodes. As the series evolved, it grew to a level that proved too difficult to sustain for a series that once aimed to release 45 to 50 episodes a year.
