Mighty Ducks: Game Changers - Every Cameo From The Original Movies

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers reunites several cast members from the movie trilogy, so which performers make cameos? The Disney+ series features the original franchise star Emilio Estevez as Gordon Bombay, who helps create a junior hockey team that competes against elite high school hockey programs in Minnesota. Lauren Graham co-stars in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers as the founder of the focal team known as the Don't Bothers.

Created by Adam Sandler collaborator Steven Brill, The Mighty Ducks movie trilogy released between 1992 and 1996. The first series installment became a box office hit and pop culture phenomenon and the sequel did almost as well. However, the third movie somewhat failed to match the hype of the first two, but by then, the series was so successful it even spawned a Disney-owned NHL team in the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (now just the Anaheim Ducks). Brill and producer Jordan Kerner discussed a series continuation with Disney over the years, but a full quarter-century passed between D3: The Mighty Ducks and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.

In the streaming era, Disney+'s Mighty Ducks revival works especially well as Disney's response to Netflix's Cobra Kai. There's a family-friendly story about underdog athletes, while Graham is a recognizable performer who excels at portraying a relatable Midwestern mom. Of course, the TV show also provides some nostalgia, evidenced by Estevez's return and his episode 6 reunion with several of the original franchise cast members. Here's every cameo in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.

Matt Doherty returns as Lester Averman, a Brooklyn Park forward who provides comic relief in The Mighty Ducks and D2: The Mighty Ducks. He imitates Rob Schneider's Saturday Night Live character The Richmeister in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers and admires his mid-'90s hair. Doherty appeared in the 1993 Mike Myers comedy So I Married an Axe Murderer and had an uncredited role in the 2012 Oscar winner Argo.

Garette Ratliff Henson reprises his franchise role as Guy Germaine, a forward from St. Paul who appears in all three of The Mighty Ducks films. In the Disney+ show, he acknowledges his three children with wife Connie but doesn't respond positively to Coach Bombay's suggestion that they all move on with their lives. Henson portrayed Tommy Jennings in Arachnophobia and Vic in Casper.

Elden Henson returns as Fulton Reed, an outsider character in The Mighty Ducks who later becomes one half of the "Bash Brothers" in the sequels. In The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, he has a blue-collar job as a concrete worker and organizes a reunion for a 25th anniversary Spirit of the Ducks gala. Henson is the real-life brother of the aforementioned Garette Ratliff Henson. He portrayed Pollux in The Hunger Games movie franchise, and also appeared as Foggy Nelson in both The Defenders and Daredevil.

Vincent LaRusso reprises his role as Adam Banks, a rich kid and star player for the Hawks who later joins The Mighty Ducks and becomes their team's superstar. In the Disney+ show, it's revealed that he's now a public defender who "fights for the good guys." LaRusso appeared in all three of the franchise movies and later appeared in the 2008 film Superhero Movie. He also had a small role in Dollhouse season 1.

Marguerite Moreau returns as Connie Moreau, a talented forward from Minneapolis and Guy's love interest. She tells Coach Bombay that she's now a Minnesota State Senator in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, which prompts a discussion about his "off the grid" lifestyle. Moreau portrayed Dr. Emma Marling in Grey's Anatomy and Kate in the Wet Hot American Summer franchise.

Justin Wong reprises his role as Kenny Wu, a former Olympic figure skater turned hockey player who appeared in D2: The Mighty Ducks and D3: The Mighty Ducks. In the Disney+ show, he jokes with Fulton at Twin Cities Slice and later shows off his figure skating skills during a hockey practice. Between the 1996 release of D3: The Mighty Ducks and the 2021 premiere of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Wong appeared in Millennium season 2.
