The “ball of smiles and energy,” also known as Jason Foster, scored the first one-on-one date with Clare Crawley on The Bachelorette. Having made a great first impression with a pregnant belly, the 31-year-old former NFL player later showed his vulnerable side during their “therapy session.” While Jason may not be the one winning Clare’s heart or final rose, he still is in the running to be one of the finalists on The Bachelorette season 16. But there was a time when Jason’s “big personality” accompanied a heavier body. Here’s what The Bachelorette star used to look like before his impressive weight loss.
Virginia native Jason surprised the Bachelor Nation by hinting at his past as a professional football player during his emotional date with Clare. Jason, who confessed to going in too deep whenever he let his demons out, actually impressed Clare by stating he didn’t want to be “a player” anymore. Jason accepted that he put on an act of being hard to love as a self-defense mechanism and Clare, in turn, helped him open up about his painful past. But while The Bachelorette fans will have to wait for the upcoming episodes to see how far Jason’s vulnerability will take him in this turbulent season, they are curious to know about his physical transformation. Clare blamed it on all the chocolate chip waffles, but the ever-so-happy Jason, who revealed he used to once weigh 325 pounds, laughed it off. However, a quick glance at the former pro football lineman’s social media shares a lot of interesting insights into Jason’s weight loss journey.
Jason’s ABC biography talks about him having suffered one too many concussions on the field during his time as a former NFL offensive lineman. The injuries made Jason, 31, prioritize his health and change the direction of his life. Jason played for the Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2012 to 2016 before retiring from the sport. Currently, with a thriving career in IT, he works as an account manager at Signature Consultants, an IT staffing and recruiting company.
Jason admits to having had his fun during his NFL days. But after coming on The Bachelorette, he wants to turn over a brand new leaf and is ready to “get serious.” The former lineman keeps himself busy by spending time visiting historical monuments around Arlington. Weekends also see Jason kayaking on the Potomac River. His Instagram shows Jason’s passion for working out and running, and he has the medals to prove it.
Clare’s suitor, who seems to be loving the go-to celebrity workout machine Megaformer lately, can be seen hitting the gym in his older Instagram pictures too. A heftier Jason is “dead tired” after an intense workout session in a post from February 2013.
In this July 2016 post, Jason shows a commendable before and after weight loss transformation. The eligible bachelor writes, “305 pounds of 100% man meat on the left, to 230 pounds of man meat on the right.” Jason’s weight loss of 75 pounds here seems to have taken him 65 days of rigorous training and hard work. “My body and joints don’t hate me as much anymore,” claims The Bachelorette front-runner before mentioning he’s “Feeling goooooood.” See the post below:
While Jason was seen telling Clare on The Bachelorette that he lost 105 pounds, his profile gives an even more impressive figure of 120. With his Seth Rogen laugh, Jason promises to add much-needed comic relief to the already-explosive season. But if Chris Harrison is to be believed, Jason will also have “one of the heaviest and most dramatic” stories from not only Clare Crawley’s season, but the entire Bachelorette franchise. After having impressed fans with his humor and sensitivity already, it will be interesting to see if Jason makes them reach for their tissues or some popcorn next.
The Bachelorette season 16 airs Tuesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on ABC.
