Mark Ruffalo has played the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Hulk for over a decade, but he has become the only Hulk actor to break a 21-year-old Marvel cameo trend. The MCU has brought some of the most popular characters from Marvel Comics to life, though not all of them have had smooth transitions to the big screen. Falling into the latter category is Bruce Banner/Hulk, who, even though he is now best known for Mark Ruffalo’s performance, had a very different start in the MCU.
