We’ve got some important and fun gaming hardware news to cover. Let us know what hardware news has you the most excited as well as if we missed anything. The first piece of news to share was the recent reveal of Sony’s new handheld which is codenamed Project Q. It is designed to basically have the two sides be a DualSense controller, but then the middle is replaced with an 8” screen. It’s meant to be a device where you stream non-VR games from your PS5 so you can play God of War: Ragnarok while you poop. Sadly, we don’t have any information regarding pricing or availability although Sony did say that more information was coming soon. They also announced new gaming earbuds, but I don’t think they’re very exciting since we know basically nothing about them.
The next item is the XBHD from EON Gaming. This is a plug-and-play adapter that allows you to connect your original Xbox console to your modern TV via HDMI. It actually looks pretty cool as it offers dual HD video output for head-to-head matches or to simplify your stream setup. There are also three RJ45 ethernet ports allowing for easy connection of up to 4 Xbox consoles to return to the ultimate LAN parties. If this excites you, you can grab your XBHD starting June 20 (Note: since being written, EON has run into a “production hiccup” and the launch of XBHD has been delayed. More information should be coming soon) for $189.99 from Amazon, Castlemania Games, Games Connection, and Retro Saga. Here are the key features:
-
Perfectly translated HD visuals with no lag
-
Clean, noiseless Dual HD video output
-
Three Ethernet ports for seamless 4 console LAN support
-
MiniToslink audio output
-
No power cables or additional hardware required
