New leaked images of Nvidia's RTX 3090 Ti Founders Edition graphics card have seemingly revealed that it will be available for purchase. Nvidia initially showed off the RTX 3090 Ti Founders Edition card at the Consumer Electronics Show 2022 in January, but there hasn't been any new information on the card until now. As a result, many had given up hope that it would ever make it to the market, but the latest leaked images now seemingly suggest otherwise.
Nvidia is reportedly planning to officially announce its RTX 3090 Ti on March 29, and the card is expected to be available for purchase on the same day. It is anticipated to be the fastest gaming GPU in the market, with recent reports suggesting that it might be around 10 percent faster than the standard RTX 3090 at 4K resolution. However, the RTX 3090 Ti is not expected to come cheap, with some rumors suggesting that it might cost around $2,000.
The latest images of the RTX 3090 Ti come from VideoCardz, which claims that the card will be available for purchase through "select retail partners" and Nvidia's website. The retailers have not been identified, but buyers would be hoping that the list includes the likes of Newegg and Amazon. Meanwhile, the images offer a closer look at the graphics card and have a shot of what seems to be the retail box, possibly confirming that it will, indeed, go on sale at some stage.
The Founders Edition RTX 3090 Ti is a large three-slot card, and as can be seen from the images, it looks similar to the RTX 3090 Founders Edition. However, there is one significant difference between the two. According to the report, the upcoming card has a PCIe Gen5 16-pin power connector instead of the 12-pin connector found in the RTX 3090 Founders Edition. Interestingly, the report claims that the new 16-pin connector will be more widely used than the 12-pin connector, which was only seen in a handful of graphics cards featuring Nvidia's reference designs, including the RTX 3090 Founders Edition.
While the RTX 3090 Ti was initially rumored to have a 450W TDP, the report claims that some of the custom designs for the card will have an even higher power draw. One such card will be the Asus ROG STRIX OC, which will have a 480W TDP that could even go up to 516W. If the report is correct, the RTX 3090 Ti will not only be a super-expensive card. It will also be a power-hungry beast aimed solely at serious gamers and DIY enthusiasts with money to burn. As for the mainstream gamers, they will likely choose the many other offerings from Nvidia and AMD that won't require them to break the bank.
