Hitman 3's Seven Deadly Sins DLC Is The Franchise's Weirdest

The DLC being released for Hitman 3 introduces some of the strangest content the series has seen. The DLC, titled Seven Deadly Sins, comes in the form of a seven-part series of paid expansions, referred to as acts. However, the missions and imagery presented in each of these acts might be some of the most unusual the Hitman series has seen yet.

That is not to say that Hitman 3 always takes itself completely seriously. A number of disguises Agent 47 can wear during his missions in the game are purposefully silly, such as the ostentatious Florida Man disguise. Still, the setting of Seven Deadly Sins allows for increasingly bizarre tasks and sights during missions.

Each act of Hitman 3's Seven Deadly Sins takes place within Agent 47's dreams. At the start of each, Agent 47 finds himself told by a distorted, disembodied voice to complete missions that embrace that DLC's sin. For example, the first act begins with the voice telling him to focus not on how personal his assassination duties have become, but instead on making money. As 47 eliminates targets, he hears whispers in his ear urging him to take the targets' coins and feed them to a golden frog statue. Each dream sequence preceding a DLC's missions shares this animal motif, as well as rapid cuts of different scenes and objects popping in and out of sight.

Beginning with Hitman 3's pride-themed DLC, Agent 47's dreams become even more chaotic. The distorted voice begins competing with that of 47's handler, Diana Burnwood, in his mind. Each mission gains a new requirement or hindrance: the pride mission demands 47 do his job professionally, with neither himself nor his targets' bodies being found; the lust mission requires 47 to analyze clues to find a special person at a party while eliminating the rest; the mission pertaining to sloth makes 47's every action drain his vitality, forcing him to eliminate targets with few unnecessary actions.

Hitman 3's next DLC, based around gluttony, is set to release on August 31, 2021. The trailer for this 5th DLC shows Agent 47 being tasked with finding ingredients for a pig statue, all the while taking down targets wearing pig masks. The dates of the following two releases, based on wrath and envy, are yet to be revealed. If they are similar in tone to the previous DLC, however, then fans can expect even more strange missions to come.
