16 and Pregnant alum Lori Wickelhaus has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to serious charges. The Northern Kentucky native was indicted last year on 20 counts for possession of a matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance. The shocking crimes Lori pleaded guilty to are a stark contrast from the teen that 16 and Pregnant viewers met on the reality series years ago.
Viewers met Lori when MTV followed her teen pregnancy journey in 2010 with her then-boyfriend, Corey Haskett. Lori and Corey struggled to decide whether or not to give their baby up for adoption. Lori ultimately found a committed family who agreed to an open adoption, despite her boyfriend's hesitation. Two days after Lori's son, Aidan, was born, he was given over to his adoptive family. Lori went on to have two more children in 2013 and 2014 with her ex-fiancé, Joey Amos. In 2012, Lori utilized a group therapy home in West Virginia after struggling following her first pregnancy as a teen. In recent years, 16 and Pregnant's Lori went on to get a new boyfriend and found herself in trouble with the law. Lori was indicted on child pornography charges in August 2020.
According to a report from Fox 19, Lori pleaded guilty to the child porn charges in a recent court hearing. The former reality star was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison for her crimes. As part of her plea agreement, Lori must undergo mental health counseling as ordered by the court.
Lori joins other 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom stars with a criminal rap sheet. Jenelle Evans famously faced legal issues during her run on Teen Mom 2 and has been arrested over a dozen times for charges related to drug use and assault. Teen Mom star Amber Portwood similarly faced jail time related to drugs and violence, and was arrested as recently as 2019 for domestic battery. Teen Mom stars are also making headlines for their legal issues in civil court. Kailyn Lowry is suing Briana DeJesus for defamation after Briana made claims that Kailyn was fired from Teen Mom after an altercation with the father of two of Kailyn's children. Charges against Kailyn related to the incident Briana spoke of were dropped.
Like other subjects on the original MTV series, Lori went on to live a troubled life after the cameras stopped rolling. Many 16 and Pregnant stars who did not rise to fame by joining Teen Mom went back to hardships in their home lives as young mothers. Unfortunately for Lori, her crimes after starring on MTV led her to prison time.
