A vampire seeking a cure for her condition is forced to give in to her bloodlust when plane hijackers threaten her son's life, in Netflix's new supernatural thriller Blood Red Sky. The movie's cast includes Peri Baumeister, Alexander Scheer and Legends of Tomorrow's Dominic Purcell as characters caught up in the fight for survival on a transatlantic flight.
Co-written and directed by Peter Thorwarth, Blood Red Sky was released Friday, 23rd July on Netflix. Filmed in Prague and with a mix of German and English dialogue, the movie was called Transatlantic 473 during production but changed its title to the grabbier Blood Red Sky ahead of release. Thorwath's previous feature films include Not My Day and The Last Cop.

Nadja is a single mother who became a widow in the same violent incident that left her with the vampire blood curse. Desperate to protect her son, she has kept her bloodlust and transformation in check by drinking small amounts of blood and injecting herself with a medicine that painfully suppresses the effects. When a doctor in the United States offers a chance to rid her of vampirism, Nadja boards an overnight transatlantic flight to receive treatment - but ends up in even deeper trouble. Peri Baumeister is also known for her roles as Sara in Skylines and Gisela in The Last Kingdom.
Elias is Nadja's young son, who is aware of his mother's condition and is as determined to protect her as she is to protect him. Elias' unusual childhood has forced him to grow up fast, helping his mother by checking their bags at the airport while she waits for the sun to go down. When hijackers seize the plane, Elias is unwilling to simply sit quietly and hope for mercy. Carl Anton Koch guest-starred in the German series Das Wichtigste im Leben. Blood Red Sky is his first feature film role.
Farid is a scientist who boards the flight alongside Nadja and Elias, and forms an attachment to the small family. When the plane is seized, the hijackers plan to frame Farid as a terrorist in order to cover their own tracks. Kais Setti is also known for playing Kareem in Dogs of Berlin and Muhammed in Oray.
Eightball is a psychopathic mercenary who deals out excessive violence in the hijacking, and is disliked even by other members of his team. When he realizes Nadja's true nature, Eightball sees an opportunity to get a little something extra out of the job. Alexander Scheer is also known for playing Josef Terboven in The Spy and Gerhard Gundermann in Gundermann.
Berg is the leader of the mission to hijack the plane and the only one who knows the full plan. Though not as vicious as Eightball, he is single-mindedly focused on the job and will do whatever it takes to pull it off successfully. Dominic Purcell is best known for playing Mick Rory a.k.a. Heatwave in Legends of Tomorrow, and Lincoln "Linc" Burrows in Prison Break.

- Jan Loukota as Jurij - A Czech mercenary on the hijacking crew.
- Nader Ben-Abdallah as Mohammed - An aeronautics student who is chosen to be framed for the hijacking.
- Graham MacTavish as Col. Alan Drummond - A military commander who negotiates the plane's landing.
