RuPaul's Drag Race UK Season 3: Elton John To Appear As Guest Judge

Sir Elton John is officially confirmed to appear as a guest judge on the upcoming RuPaul's Drag Race UK season 3 on the BBC. So far, the UK edition of Drag Race has been a massive success for RuPaul, World of Wonder, and the drag performers who've been cast on the show. Despite the many international editions of Drag Race that now exist, it is clear that the UK series is on a par - in terms of quality and mainstream reach - with the American show.

Over the years, RuPaul's Drag Race has become known for landing high-profile celebrities to appear as judges on the show. With Lady Gaga appearing in the season 9 premiere, Drag Race set yet another precedent for itself: starting each season with a big pop star as the main guest. This wasn't possible for season 13 due to COVID-19 precautions, of course, but the show still put together one-on-one video chat for stars like Scarlett Johansson and Anne Hathaway to talk to the contestants.

Now, it appears that one of the most important musicians in history, Sir Elton John, is set to appear as a guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race UK season 3, which is currently in production. This is by far the British series' biggest celebrity casting, and the Daily Star was the first outlet to confirm the news. The third season of Drag Race UK is expected to air later in 2021, as it has already been completely filmed. Elton John and RuPaul have a long-standing friendship, and they have partnered many times in the past on different projects. Among them, RuPaul was featured on a remix version of Elton John's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" in 1994.

Despite Sir Elton John and RuPaul's close friendship and admiration for one another, the legendary British musician is notably picky about the projects that he chooses to be a part of. Many reality competition shows in the United Kingdom have tried to invite Elton John over the years, but he's always declined those invitations. Alas, he clearly loves RuPaul and Drag Race, and he felt like this was the right fit for himself. The fans - and the queens! - will surely be very excited to watch Elton appearing in season 3.

At this point, Drag Race UK season 3 shouldn't be that far out. In 2020, it was confirmed that 2021 would feature not one but two new seasons of the show. This will make up for a year like 2020, which didn't air any new season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK due to strict COVID-19 restrictions. Start your engines, and may the best drag queen win!
