Animal Crossing Update Adds Hats From The French Revolution

Dataminers have discovered that hats from the French Revolution will soon be added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The popular life simulation game from Nintendo launched in 2020, making it the first true Animal Crossing title since 2012. The game continues to receive updates with additional content more than a year after its release.

Nintendo continues to supply Animal Crossing: New Horizons' dedicated fanbase with new ways to explore and customize their island homes. One recent free update for the game has paved the way for the return of two events from last year, International Museum Day and Wedding Season. The Wedding Season event, which first ran in June 2020, tasked players with performing tasks to prepare for the marriage of villagers Cyrus and Reese. Decorating the wedding venue and performing a photo shoot were two notable aspects of the romantic ceremony.  International Museum Day, which was celebrated in-game back in May 2020, will allow players to appreciate in-game art and fossils. A future update for New Horizons is also expected to introduce new villagers to the game, as a never-before-seen home has been spotted in the new update.

A host of new Animal Crossing: New Horizons items were recently leaked by dataminers, and were then reported by Animal Crossing World. Many of these upcoming items are set to release as part of in-game seasonal events, and Nintendo Life reports that one particular set of hats pays tribute to the French Revolution. While France's period of violent civil unrest may not gel perfectly with the innocent tone of New Horizons, the hats will reportedly be used as a part of an in-game celebration of Bastille Day. The July 14 holiday celebrates one of the revolution's key turning points, as revolutionaries stormed a fortress in Paris and stole ammunition with which they fought the oppressive upper class. Phrygian Caps, colorful and innocent-looking hats, will soon be added to New Horizons in order to celebrate this French Revolutionary victory.

While Nintendo continues to add in-game events and items to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, real products inspired by the game are also being made. Build-A-Bear Workshop teddy bears inspired by the game have been created, allowing fans to bring their favorite villagers to life. Two iconic characters from the game, Isabelle and Tom Nook, are available to create and Build-A-Bear recently announced that these characters have been restocked.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to receive new content to keep its dedicated fanbase interested and invested. While the French Revolution seems to be an oddly brutal choice for the kindly Nintendo title, Bastille Day has massive cultural and historical significance in France. Whether they want to celebrate a great French holiday or simply don a comfy-looking cap, players should be on the look-out for the Phrygian Cap around the July 14 celebration of Bastille Day.
