Star Wars: The Clone Wars Characters, Ranked By Intelligence

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is filled with Jedi, Sith, Senators, Separatists, and of course, Clones. Most of their time is spent strategizing against each other. Every character brings their own level of intelligence and experience to planning the endless amounts of war invasions, rescues, and secret meetings.

The Clones and their Jedi Generals play a large role in how the war functions and how enemies are defeated. However, they are not the only intelligent beings in the show and it is proven time and time again that if they doubt each other's intelligence, it may be their downfall.

10 Jar Jar Binks

Aside from his clumsy antics, Jar Jar Binks is the Gungan Representative from Naboo. His role in The Clone Wars puts him deeper in the action than the movies allowed and gives him the opportunity to show that he comes from a warrior nation and can handle his own even if he is silly doing it.

If he ends up in danger due to his own volition, he almost always thinks of a way out of it. Unfortunately, he doesn't really know how to account for his own clumsiness which often affects his strategic planning.

9 General Grievous

Grievous has a tendency to think he's the smartest being in the room but he also has a tendency to run from his problems, fight through them, or just take orders from Dooku or Palpatine.

He only earns his place in the top 10 because of his ability to gather and command droid armies. His plans and strategies started out well but are easily foiled by the Jedi & clones.

8 Cad Bane

As the leading bounty hunter in the galaxy, Cad Bane knows his way around many places and if he doesn't, he figures it out quickly.

He is one of the smartest characters in The Clone Wars because he can do practically any job and was especially skilled at creating alliances wherever he may need them.

7 Fives

Originally known as CT-5555, Fives is one of the Advanced Recon Commando Clones in the 501st alongside Rex.

In Season 6, he is the reason they discover the chip that will execute Order 66 within all of the clones. He follows his own investigation and unfortunately that led him to reveal his findings to Palpatine, a grave mistake, but he still was smart enough to figure it out in the first place.

6 Darth Maul

The Clone Wars version of Darth Maul is not just a crazed, vengeful, Sith but also an intelligent and strategic Dark Side user. Darth Maul fell down a literal pit of despair for over 10 years and still built himself spider legs until he could find a way out of his lost mindset.

He even takes over Mandalore, an entire existence of warriors. Not to mention, he constantly finds new ways to torture Obi-Wan.

5 Ahsoka Tano

When Ahsoka starts out in TCW, she is an enthusiastic Padawan learner. Being Anakin Skywalker's Padawan has its benefits so Ahsoka not only learned quickly but she learned how to think outside of the box.

Ahsoka's journey takes her from being a leader while she is being hunted by Trandoshans to leaving the Jedi Order for the sake of the truth and her own well-being.

4 Senator Padmé Amidala

Padmé began as royalty in Star Wars and was even then an intellect beyond compare to some of her governmental counterparts. She knew when it was time to step up and expose her identity to Boss Nass and when it was time for her to accept her role as Senator of Naboo.

She constantly fought for the safety of the citizens and was always willing to find a civil and procedural way out of things. And one of the most intelligent things about her was her ability to adapt to anything. If she found that diplomacy wasn't working, she found another way out.

3 Captain Rex

Formerly known as CT-7567, Rex serves the 501st Legion as a Clone Captain, Commando, and Advanced Recon Commando in the Grand Army of the Republic. He serves Generals ranging from 800-year-old Jedi Master Yoda to 14-year-old Padawan Ahsoka Tano and he not only uses the knowledge he is programmed with but also gained enough experience and observed enough strategies to earn a spot at #3 for intelligence.

One of his most iconic moments exemplifying how much mental strength he truly has is in Season 7; When he knew what the Order 66 chips would do to him, and subsequently Ahsoka, he fought it admirably and successfully.

2 Anakin Skywalker

Fans know him as one of the most powerful Jedi and Sith to have ever used The Force. But before he was those things, he was a mechanic working on endless varying machines, not to mention building C3-PO out of scraps.

He takes that same childhood intelligence into the Clone Wars as a General of the 501st Legion. He constantly thinks of ways around obstacles that other Jedi, even Masters, have trouble visualizing a solution for. He also raises Ahsoka to be herself and that is one of the most intelligent things he does in the show.

1 Supreme Chancellor Palpatine

The scheming mind behind everything in The Clone Wars and basically everything thereafter. Senator Palpatine took power after a vote of no confidence against Chancellor Valorum.

The Clone Wars is where fans truly get to see how extensive the plan to rule the galaxy truly was. He created Order 66 in the very beginning before even rising to power. The audience sees the training, deception, and abuse of his Sith Apprentices and of the government itself, to the point of its downfall.
