That '70s Show: 10 Friendships That Should Have Happened (But Didn't)

The group may have had their flaws in That '70s Showbut at the end of the day, they all had a strong connection. This would help the show create some truly magnificent moments between them. There also was a strong sense of realism between the cast, as they certainly were not afraid to "burn" each other. Conflict may have been a common theme between them as well, but ultimately, this would help them solidify their friendships once it was resolved.

Although the series did a great job with those friendships, there were also a ton that they missed. There were a lot of characters who were similar in personality, but nothing would come from them in terms of connection. It would have been great had they explored this more, as it could have provided a lot of great storylines, especially when it came to the later seasons.

A deeper look into these potential duos makes this quite simple to see.

10 Jackie And Laurie

Jackie and Laurie were primarily enemies with one another, as they both were dating Kelso at the same time. Laurie was of course the aggressor in this situation, as she pursued Kelso when knowing that he had already been with Jackie.

However, these two were pretty similar, so they could have been friends, had the show gone in a different direction. They both were into fashion and quite catty, so they could have had a lot of interesting moments as friends in the series.

9 Donna And Brooke

Donna did not have a friend who she could really relate to, as evidenced by Jackie. Brooke could have been a wonderful option to change that, as she was immensely smart just like Donna. Both were caring and hard-working.

Brooke was a fantastic character who really should have been given the chance to have a larger role in the series, rather than just being the mother of Kelso's baby. She had a lot of substance and could have worked so well with Donna.

8 Eric And Buddy

Although Eric and Buddy would hit it off as friends in their lone episode together, the ladder would never be seen again after the fact. This was because critics were not too keen on Buddy being a gay character, which truly was a shame.

Buddy could have been a wonderful part of the group, as it was clear that he and Eric did have a lot of similarities. It would have been awesome to see more moments between the two, as they clearly had potential to be very close friends.

7 Fez And Fenton

The ongoing rivalry between Fez and Fenton was hilarious, but they also should have been friends. These two did have a lot of similar qualities, which would be presented through their continuous arguments with each other.

Fez and Fenton also were quite interested in fashion, so the show could have used that to bring these two together. Having Fenton in a more prominent role would have been outstanding for the series, especially in its later seasons.

6 Kelso And Mitch

Although Eric had a pretty deep disliking towards Mitch, Kelso did not seem to mind him at all. In fact, whilst in Eric's basement, the two would actually have a lot of fun together, thus foreshadowing a potential friendship between the two.

Yet, this sadly and wrongly would not come to fruition. Mitch had a carefree personality similar to Kelso, so the two could have ultimately had a lot of fun together engaging in activities with one another. It would have provided a lot of hilarity to the series.

5 Hyde And Roy

Roy was essentially Hyde's older brother when his family left him. However, even with this being so, the two really did not get to have as many interactions as one would expect. Hyde and Roy should have been basically brothers on the series.

However, Roy's role would never blossom into the main cast, which would ultimately impact the closeness he had with Hyde. These two were friends to a degree, but nowhere close to the area in which they should have been.

4 Donna And Angie

Angie was another strong-minded woman who would have been an excellent friend for Donna. She was definitely hardworking and tough, which were also qualities that Donna possessed. They also would have some good interactions in the series.

Angie simply did not have enough time on the series to build a strong relationship with Donna though. She also was another character who fell under the Kelso spell, so most of her time on the series was spent with him.

3 Red And Earl

Red was a character who did not have many friends, which was probably by his own choice. However, one character who could have been an intriguing friend for him was his former employee, Earl.

Earl was a character who had some lazy qualities, but all in all, he seemed like a kind soul. He was also hilarious, so having these two together in a friendship type dynamic could have provided a ton of laughs. Of course, Red would have been tough on him along the way, as per usual.

2 Kelso And Casey

Casey may have been a menace to everyone along the way, but it was honestly disappointing that there were not too many interactions between him and Kelso. They were brothers, but hardly anything of significance happened between them in the series.

Kelso was a character who needed some guidance, and Casey really should have been there for him. Maybe Casey could have shown some more positive qualities had he spent more time with his brother. His primary purpose in the series seemed to be hurting Donna.

1 Eric And Mitch

Mitch also should have become close friends with Eric. Yes, they had been rivals, but the two were immensely similar when it came to not only their interests but also their personalities. The two should have been able to find common ground.

Sure, every character needs an antagonist, but these two could have made the best of friends. For example, Eric's friends often poked fun at him for his love of Star Wars. Mitch, on the other hand, was a massive fan of that too, so they could have bonded about that.
