Umbrella Academy Season 3: Sparrow Actors Cast Guide

The Umbrella Academy season 3 introduces a new group of super-powered characters called the Sparrow Academy, and here's who plays them. In addition to bringing in newcomers, The Umbrella Academy is expected to bring back its main cast, consisting of Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Min. Actor Colm Feore also stars as Sir Reginald Hargreeves, the adoptive father of the Umbrella Academy, and the patriarchal leader of the recently revealed Sparrow Academy in the new timeline.

After adopting seven children born under special circumstances on October 1, 1989, Reginald raised a group of super-powered crime-fighters known as the Umbrella Academy. Then after distancing themselves as they got older, the group reunited to prevent an apocalypse caused by their sister, Vanya (Page). In addition to Vanya, Luther (Hopper), Diego (Castañeda), Allison (Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Sheehan), and Number Five (Gallagher) were transported to Dallas in the 1960s where they faced yet another impending fall of society. Though Number Five managed to transport his siblings back to 2019, the siblings realized they entered an altered timeline. Not only was Reginald still alive, but he formed a new group, known as the Sparrow Academy.

In the final moments of The Umbrella Academy season 2, the Sparrow Academy revealed themselves, but only Ben was directly shown. The rest of the members remained in the shadows, intimidatingly watching over the original Hargreeves siblings as if they were new threats. Ahead of the next installment, Netflix announced the cast of the Sparrow Academy, a group that will be of major focus for the show's new chapter. Many of the incoming characters with powers share certain powers and personality aspects of the original Hargreeves siblings. While some of the names and faces will be familiar, there are a few relative newcomers. The cast list also features an unorthodox announcement surrounding the non-human member. That said, here's the cast of the Sparrow Academy and where viewers will recognize the actors from.

Justin Cornwell joins The Umbrella Academy season 3 as Marcus, the Sparrow Academy's version of Luther. Not only is he "Number One," but he's described as "a charming, chiseled, colossus." Marcus is the leader of Reginald's Sparrow Academy due to his discipline, intelligence, and fight for family unity. Despite his extreme confidence, Marcus is said to prioritize honesty within himself and others. Cornwell is best known for TV roles such as Kyle Craig in Training Day and Terrence Shye in I Am the Night. The actor also portrayed Young Jeronicus in Netflix's Christmas musical Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey.

Before The Umbrella Academy season 2 came to a close, Ben was revealed to be a member of the Sparrow Academy. While there's reason to believe that Justin H. Min's new character isn't actually the original Ben, the series is letting viewers believe he's the same person. This version, however, is vicious and he carries a determination to emerge as the team's leader despite Marcus' label as Number One. Like the Umbrella Academy's Ben, the Sparrow Academy member possesses a tentacled force within his body. Aside from appearing in the first two seasons of The Umbrella Academy, Min has appeared in Faking It, CSI: Cyber, and New Amsterdam.

Britne Oldford plays the Sparrow Academy's Number Three, a female character named Fei. The character is described as a recluse who acts as though she would rather spend her time alone, but deep down, she just needs a friend to confide in. Like her siblings, Fei has intelligence on her side, but she also has no qualms when it comes to going after those who have wronged her. Oldford's most notable roles include playing Cadie Campbell in Skins, Alma Walker in American Horror Story: Asylum, Shawna Baez in The Flash, and Regan in Hunters.

Jake Epstein portrays the role of Alphonso, a character that seems to have similarities to Diego. Like the Umbrella Academy's Number Two, Alphonso is a crime-fighter who is covered in scars from his past, both physical and emotional. Unlike his Umbrella Academy counterpart, Epstein's character copes with his sense of humor and his guilty pleasures such as beer and pizza. Epstein would be best known for playing Craig Manning in Degrassi: The Next Generation, Chuck Russink in Designated Survivor, and Brian Altman in Suits.

Genesis Rodriguez stars in The Umbrella Academy season 3 as Sloane, the Sparrow Academy's Number Five. She's described as a "romantic and a dreamer" who feels that she's being pulled to a world outside of the Sparrow Academy. Despite her eagerness to move on, Sloane struggles to leave her family behind due to her loyalty. Her predicament seems to mirror that of Allison's arc when she separated herself after becoming famous. Aside from starring in Telemundo telenovelas, Rodriguez would be known for her work in Big Hero 6Delirium, Time After Time, and The Fugitive.

Cazzie David plays Jayme, The Sparrow Academy's Number Six who serves as a loner with a "fear-inducing snarl." Though she's described as "smart and sharp as a knife," she only connects with Alphonso, her only friend among the family. Davis is best known for starring as Remi in the TV miniseries Eighty-Sixed, which she also helped write. She is also the author of the New York Times best-selling book No One Asked for This and the daughter of TV legend Larry David.

Among the new figures making up the Sparrow Academy in The Umbrella Academy season 3 is Christopher, the telekinetic green cube. The cast list doesn't include a voice actor, and instead, labels him as the "Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube." While there are theories regarding the Sparrow Academy's green cube, Christopher serves as the mediator among the group who offers key advice. He can also reportedly turn rooms ice cold by also inducing paralyzing fear in his victims. More details regarding Christopher's role and origins will undoubtedly come into focus throughout The Umbrella Academy season 3.
