Hitman 3 Easter Eggs Include Agent 47 Alien Abduction & Talking Hippo

The Hitman franchise is riddled with Easter eggs that put Agent 47 in some bizarre situations or reference pop culture icons, and Hitman 3 has a few of its own that lead to alien abductions, creepy talking hippos, and more. These supernatural encounters have no lasting effect on the game, but they've probably had some effect on Agent 47's psyche.

Hitman's Easter eggs have become a part of the game's identity, and some carryover from title to title. Almost every Hitman game since Hitman: Blood Money has had an Easter egg in reference to the infamous "Allen please add details" missing text oversight. Small references to Spongebob Squarepants have made their way into the past three titles. And there are always a number of hilarious disguises and weapons that players can use to get the job done in a precarious way. But some of the franchise's greatest Easter eggs are the ones that leave players questioning what they've just witnessed.

In Hitman 3 there are two Easter eggs in the same level that are sure to leave players baffled that involve a talking hippo and Agent 47 getting abducted by aliens. YouTube channel The Easter Egg Hunter posted a compilation of some of the best secrets and wackiness in Hitman 3, and these two easily made the list. When players are exploring the streets of Berlin they have the ability to summon a talking hippo with the use of a golden idol. The hippo has a lot to get off his chest to Agent 47, the majority of which are meaningless creepy ramblings. After the mission in Berlin is completed, the player can use a secret exit through the use of a payphone that results in Agent 47 being sucked into a UFO via a tractor beam.

Of course, these instances have no effect on the game after they happen. No one questions how Agent 47 left Berlin, and he makes it make from his interstellar travels in time for the next mission. However, the hippo does give Agent 47 some pretty solid advice when he says not to trust anyone, but it is up to the player whether they heed that advice or not.

It's obvious that IO Interactive went all-out on the secrets and references in Hitman 3, and there are probably plenty more that have yet to be discovered. It's a mystery how some of these Easter eggs are even found, to begin with. Who thinks to throw a golden idol on a chair and then wait for a hippo to appear? Better yet, who wouldn't immediately run away once the hippo came out of the water?
