Friends: 5 Times We Wanted To Be Chandler (& 5 We Wanted To Be Joey)

The show Friends has been off the air for over a decade, but in all that time, it hasn't decreased the show's overall relevance. Audiences still love and relate to each of the characters and their storylines. The show is timeless and had each of its main characters face both accomplishments and struggles in the ten years that they were onscreen.

In those moments, there were certainly times that audiences wished they could be in the character's shoes to experience what they were experiencing, especially in the cases of best friends Chandler and Joey.

10 Chandler: His Love For Bath Time

Baths are relaxing. Essential oils, bubbles, warm water, and calming music. What's not to love? Baths are especially rejuvenating after long, stressful days. When Monica first introduces Chandler to such a bath, he's not totally into it, until he tries it for himself. Then he can't get enough of bath time!

Chandler looked so relaxed and stress-free that audiences undoubtedly thought about drawing their own baths. Chandler had to learn the hard way to keep the door locked, as his friends all intruded on bath time when Rachel and Ross announced they were having a girl.

9 Joey: When He Got The Lead For Mac And C.H.E.E.S.E.

Chandler nearly cost Joey the part of the lead in the upcoming show "Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E.", but Joey got another chance and secured the part. The show may not have lasted long due to its eventual cancellation, but Joey had the opportunity of a lifetime when he got to play the lead in his own show.

It's pretty cool, and Joey had worked long and hard for such a job over the years through his ups and downs as an actor. It was a great accomplishment in his career, and Joey had definitely earned it. Fans would have loved to be a part of this moment.

8 Chandler: His Response When Asked For Advice

Rachel fears she and Joey will never be the same again after she rejects him. She voices her fears to Chandler, who in turn lets her know that he's not so great with the advice, but could he interest her in a sarcastic comment? Honestly, some people are better at giving advice than others, and Chandler is far better with the sarcastic comments.

Anyone that isn't keen on giving advice certainly related to and wanted to be Chandler in this moment, as he was completely honest, and probably had a sarcastic comment at the ready just in case Rachel changed her mind.

7 Joey: Ballroom Dancing With Treeger

Joey inadvertently creates trouble for Monica and Rachel when he confronts Treeger about being mean to Rachel. To keep the two from being evicted, Joey agrees to helping Treeger practice his dance moves for an upcoming ball.

Joey dreads it initially, but discovers that he genuinely likes it, and finds himself having a good time as he learns to dance alongside Treeger. He's even sad when it ends. Joey looked like he was having a good time, and he helped his friends and picked up a new skill simultaneously. It was a win-win.

6 Chandler: When He Made Up With Joey After Kissing Kathy

Fighting with friends is awful, especially if it's best friends. When Joey finds out that Chandler kissed Kathy, he's furious with him. Chandler begs and pleads for forgiveness, but it's not until he does some thinking in a box that Joey forgives him. Not only does Joey forgive him and assure him that they'll be fine, but he also urges Chandler to go after Kathy, who had stopped by to say goodbye to him.

It's one of the best moments between Chandler and Joey; even best friends have fights from time to time, but the best part is when they make up and move on.

5 Joey: When He Handled Criticism Extremely Well

After the director reads from the paper a scathing review of the play Joey was in, in the episode "The One With The Screamer", he takes his review particularly well, even cheering about the fact that he wasn't the worst part of the play. Finding the bright side is difficult, especially when the criticism is directed at an individual as was the case with Joey, but still, he cheered and even kept the paper with the review in it.

Joey's reaction was genuine and not at all forced, either. Audiences that have faced similar criticism certainly wanted to be Joey in that moment, as he chose to rejoice instead of feel hurt by the critic's words.

4 Chandler: When He Found A Job He Cared About

Chandler hated his job on Friends; he complained about it, but stuck with it because the pay was good. However, he does quit that job before the series is over and finds himself in the advertising business, which he loves.

Chandler may have had to start from scratch, but he put in the hard work and the time and ultimately found a permanent position in advertising after completing his internship. It was good to see that Chandler wouldn't spend the rest of his life working at a job he disliked, and instead found something he genuinely enjoyed doing. Many fans would love to experience such a moment themselves.

3 Joey: Anytime He Enjoyed His Food

Joey's love for food is contagious. Anyone that loves pizza and sandwiches the way Joey does certainly wanted to trade places with him anytime there was a scene with Joey packing away food. Joey loves everything, whether it be jam, or surprisingly, Rachel's botched English trifle.

He took on the challenge of eating a whole turkey by himself, and if anyone leaves food unattended in front of Joey, it's a sure bet it'll be gone when they return, and Joey won't feel bad about it at all. Joey ate well thanks to Monica, and audiences certainly wanted to be him anytime he sat down for a delicious meal.

2 Chandler: When Monica Proposed

Chandler went to extreme lengths to ensure that Monica would not see his proposal coming, and it worked a little too well. Luckily, all is not lost, and Chandler is instead surprised to find his wife-to-be in their candlelit apartment, proposing to him instead. She didn't quite make it through the proposal as she was overcome by her emotions, but the romantic moment was perfect as they let each other know just how they felt about the other, and that they were ready to spend the rest of their lives together.

It was beautiful, heartfelt, and certainly one of the best moments in Chandler's life.

1 Joey: When He Married Monica And Chandler

Joey wouldn't miss the wedding ceremony of his two best friends for the world. He cut it close, and he forgot his notes, but he still got to do the honors. Joey knew how perfect Monica and Chandler were for each other, and audiences could see how happy he was to be the one to marry them.

It's pretty cool, given Joey has known the two of them separately and together for years. Joey officiating their wedding was both sweet and special, and it meant a lot not just to him, but also Monica and Chandler.
