Star Wars: 10 Most Unique Lightsabers That Aren't Blue Or Green

The lightsabers from Star Wars are special. They're not just the best weapons a warrior can have in the whole mythos but they also represent that warrior's allegiances. There's usually just blue and green for the good guys and their designs can be rather bland.

That's why the more liberal red lightsaber, as well as the other colors, pop out better. They are more individualistic in design and thus feel more unique and tailor-made for their specific Sith or Jedi owners. The result is that the most peculiar and exceptional lightsabers aren't blue or green.

10 Rey's Yellow Lightsaber

Being a Jedi doesn't mean you get the subjectively dull choice of blue or green as Rey "Skywalker" proved. She made her own lightsaber which is yellow in color. That color tends to be reserve for Jedi Sentinels which is usually a nice balance between the more brash Jedi Guardians and the wiser Jedi Consulars.

Now, Rey doesn't have to keep borrowing Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber because she has her own made in the style that fits her upbringing. The hilt itself tells a story and appears as if it was fashioned like Rey's scrapper staff in Jakku.

9 Count Dooku's Curved Sword

Sure, Kylo Ren's edgy and wild lightsaber with a cross-guard might have shocked plenty of fans around the world, but it lacks the refinement and class of older Sith Lords who are more powerful, namely Count Dooku. At first glance, Count Dooku's weapon might look uninspiring but upon further analysis, the hilt is actually curved.

This allows Count Dooku to land some precise strikes and him to control where the tip of his saber will land. It also lends much to Count Dooku's signature appearance and reflects his demeanor well; he thinks he's above everyone and has an air of superiority about him.

8 Ahsoka Tano's White Dual Blades

Ever since Ahsoka Tano was kicked out of the Jedi Order for a crime she didn't commit, she sought to be her own person. That includes picking her own lightsaber color, which is a clean and blinding white, making her moral compass pretty apparent while still being distinct from the Jedi.

Moreover, her fighting style allows her to wield two blades typically in an underhand grip, which is her specialty. The design of both hilts also makes the swords appear more minimalistic and less industrial, setting them apart from other sabers.

7 The Darksaber

There are white lightsabers, so naturally, black ones should also be available. Only one of those exist in the Star Wars universe, namely the Darksaber. Apart from being a sword that can slice through most things in the Star Wars mythos, it's also an important political tool.

Whoever wields it is given the right to rule Mandalore, the home planet of Mandalorians. It can only be given to another Mandalorian as a reward for defeating the previous owner in fair combat. The black color and the single-edged appearance are mostly just bonuses.

6 Sabercane

One must never underestimate old times in Star Wars, especially if they carry canes. Yoda would be one prime example of this and another is Tera Sinube, popularly featured in the Clone Wars series. Tera Sinube wields a white lightsaber, similar to Ahsoka, but keeps his hidden in a cane.

The cane, of course, is primarily used as a walking apparatus and gives Tera Sinube the appearance of being a feeble old man until he whips out the blade and starts challenging those who disrespect this Jedi Master.

5 Polearm Lightsaber

A lightsaber with a longer than typical hilt is most commonly reserved for double-bladed ones. The need for extra range would be probably be best remedied by simply prolonging the blade or just force pulling your target. Even so, the Jedi Temple Guard thought it best to make polearm or pike versions of lightsabers.

This can ensure stronger strikes from afar, where they can easily overpower enemies too. Of course, such a weapon would put the wielder at a disadvantage in too close a melee range but since it's wielded mostly by Jedi Temple Guards, it's safe to say that not many enemies can come close.

4 Tonfa Lightsabers

Tonfa batons are proven to be effective martial arts or police weapons in the right hands. Replace the long blunt part with blades and it becomes a flashy and strong weapon for stabbing. Replace it with a lightsaber and it might just become the best lightsaber setup for offense and defense.

Such a weapon was wielded by Maris Brood, a Jedi Padawan-turned-Sith. She was a female Zabrak Jedi and was a tonfa user even way back then. After becoming a Sith, she merely replaced the green blade with a red one.

3 Mace Windu's Purple Lightsaber

The hilt might look standard and unimaginative but it's the blade that makes Mace Windu's lightsaber a cut above the rest. He's one of the few Jedi in the movies and shows to wield a purple-colored lightsaber.

It's a testament to how powerful Mace Windu is as a Jedi Master. With his purple lightsaber being a combination of red and blue, some fans believe this could signify how he straddles the line between Jedi and Sith without succumbing to the Dark Side. As expected, Jedi like him are unique, making his lightsaber color one of the rarest.

2 Double-Bladed Spinner

The Sith Inquisitors are some of the most fearsome hunters in the galaxy since they were tasked with hunting down force-sensitive individuals. Some of them are unnecessarily flashy and scary, such as the Brothers and Sisters of the Inquisitor sect.

Some of their standard lightsaber designs are double-bladed and come with a hilt guard that can spin. This effectively makes the blades a rotor that can effortlessly block blaster fire. They needn't bother with such a design since most of their primary targets don't even use blasters. Still, it adds to their fearsomeness as budding Dark Side apprentices.

1 Lightwhip

For some Jedi or Sith, blades are overrated which is why the lightwhip exists. It's a more flexible weapon and can be used at longer ranges since the whip is several feet longer than the usual lightsaber blade.

However, it takes a lot more skill to use than a lightsaber due to how limp the whip is. Couple that with the fact that the whip is a laser and can cut through anything, the wielder needs more training compared to lightsaber users. Luckily, its most prominent owner is a Jedi named Vernestra Rwoh and she wields the color purple so she deserves it.
