Daisy Ridley Is Completely Fine With Baby Yoda Snacking on Frog Lady's Eggs

Star Wars star Daisy Ridley is completely fine with Baby Yoda’s disturbing snacking on the Frog Lady’s eggs, as was seen in a recent episode of The Mandalorian. The Disney+ series has been a fan favorite since kicking off last year, and The Child (aka Baby Yoda) has had a lot to do with that popularity.

While the first season of The Mandalorian introduced Baby Yoda to viewers, not much information about who or what he actually is has been revealed since. Fans know that there’s been a considerable amount of effort placed on bringing the little tyke back to others of his own kind, but that’s about where audiences’ collective knowledge ends. One thing that does appear to be getting clearer with each new episode of the second season, however, is that Baby Yoda might not be the cutesy little harmless being that he appears to be. In the second episode of the new season, the Yoda-like toddler repeatedly consumed eggs belonging to a Frog Lady who was desperately trying to bring them to her husband for fertilization. The eggs were the last of the family line and Baby Yoda’s persistent snacking was not helpful.

The incident set off a considerable amount of discussion and surprise among fans online, as this was the first time that Baby Yoda had done anything selfish or downright rude. While speaking with Daisy Ridley recently, IGN found out that the Star Wars actress remained faithful to Team Baby Yoda, despite his inability to respect other beings’ eggs. Defending The Child’s need to stay strong amid the tongue-in-cheek dose of cancel culture he’s been facing since downing the eggs, Ridley said:

"Oh, cancel culture. Look, Mando’s gotta eat, Yoda's got to get strong. That's just that. I think it's funny, because in a way, The Mandalorian, I feel, is slightly closer to [her upcoming film] Chaos Walking, in a way, because of the western feel of it. No, I'm like, 'Yoda, do your thing.' The creature [Frog Lady] got to be where she needed to be with the eggs. It's all good. It was beautiful."

Ridley’s right of course—in the end, the Frog Lady did get to where she needed to be and everything seemed to have worked out. But for some, the sight of Baby Yoda popping Frog Lady eggs into his mouth like M&M’s is a hard one to forget. What’s more, the somewhat tainted reputation that’s now attached to the character has only grown thanks to the most recent episode of The Mandalorian. Though the new season hasn’t focused its attention completely on Baby Yoda, the fourth episode shows him using the force to steal cookies from another child. Whether it’s simply a bratty phase or not, he’s certainly becoming a handful.

It’s a testament to Baby Yoda’s appeal, however, that despite the arguably distasteful things he’s been seen doing as of late, Star Wars royalty like Ridley stays on his side. It’s unclear as to whether or not Ridley has any inside information regarding the direction of The Mandalorian, but her dedication to the character could be a strong vote of confidence against those who have surmised that Baby Yoda could end up siding with dark forces.
