Spider-Man FINALLY Faces Sin-Eater in Marvel Preview

The wait is over for fans of Spider-Man's latest arc, as the newest preview for Marvel’s The Amazing Spider-Man series finds Spidey going head-to-head with the powerful, resurrected super-villain Sin-Eater.

First appearing in 1985, the villain has spent years repeatedly fighting Spider-Man as he attempted to rid the city of anyone who has “sinned.” A former SHIELD agent and New York City Police detective turned vigilante, Sin-Eater was bent on murdering any he perceived as criminals. Sin-Eater’s reign of terror was eventually stopped by Daredevil and Spider-Man and the character later committed suicide by cop. But Sin-Eater is back, resurrected, and sent out into the city by Kindred--a centipede-loving demon from hell obsessed with taking revenge on Peter Parker. While Kindred's reasons for hating Peter still remain a mystery, he is often seen manipulating Spider-Man's former villains as part of his revenge plan. His releasing Sin-Eater back into the world adds an interesting new piece to the Kindred puzzle.

In an exclusive preview of Amazing Spider-Man #47, part three of the "Sins Rising" arc offered to CBR, readers can catch a glimpse of the newest showdown between Sin-Eater and Spider-Man. Seen standing amongst a large crowd, Sin-Eater is approached by a criminal begging to have his sins taken away. “I've tried to get rid of this thing inside me for so many years,” the man states while the wall-crawler inches closer to the scene. As Sin-Eater pulls his weapon, offering "mercy" to the man, Spider-Man leaps into action. The final panel shows Sin-Eater looking up, uttering a single word that readers will surely echo: “Finally.”

Additional material released by Marvel hints at Sin-Eater’s larger plans. Criminals are now seemingly reformed and wanting to make amends, but Spider-Man remains suspicious--with Sin-Eater consuming the Lethal Legion’s sins, he also absorbed their powers, strengthening him for the eventual fight against Spider-Man. While Spidey tries to figure out his plans, Sin-Eater turns his eye towards local reporter Norah Winters as the next one of his list to pay for their sins. If the preview is anything to go by, Nick Spencer’s story and the art of Marcelo Ferreirawill be sure to please fans as they eagerly read about the long-awaited fight between Spider-Man and the leveled-up Sin-Eater

Amazing Spider-Man #47, Part 3 of Sins Rising, by Nick Spencer, Marcelo Ferreira, Roberto Poggi, David Curiel and VC's Joe Caramagna is set to hit shelves on August 26th, 2020.
