Is it normal for a Samoan mother to be extra-affectionate with their children on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? The mother and son embraced for what looked like a long kiss on the lips.
During last week’s episode fans watched as the ride to Washington to see his family turned into turmoil. The two toddlers were exhausted, but the father wanted to see his family, eventually giving in to his wife’s demands and calling it a night. Understandably, Asuelu Pulaa was homesick and wanted to see his relatives, but he didn’t realize he needed to put his children’s wellbeing first. This attack is just the latest in a long line of behaviors that have 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? viewers confused about why new father Asuelu is not helping to raise his children, instead making Kalani Faagata take over completely. But even though the couple made it to Portland safely it still does not look as if there will be smooth waters.
The couple is about to have a very weird episode. Both Kalani and Asuelu feel the presence of a ghost in their rented home. Kalani swears she had heard a voice while the Soman said it was a little girl who watched him go to the bathroom. Paranormal activity aside, the real issues that scared fans what how Aseulu’s mother planted a passionate kiss on her son. Many TLC fans wondered it this was part of their culture.
Fans have already started to feel a disingenuous vibe from the matriarch since the last episode all she did was demand money for her poor son. To viewers, she comes across as an able-bodied woman capable of work. She has not left a good impression on Kalani either. Asuelu had not seen his mother in years and she immediately planted a full lip kiss on her son. Kalani, Kalini, and fans were left very confused wondering if it was an edit by TLC. Fans tried to debunk the awkward kiss as an edit but no matter how you spin it, their lips touched. During the interview, Kalani pointed out to her husband what they saw, and instead of participating in the conversation, he stormed away like a man child saying that his lips did not touch his mothers. There is no traditional meaning in Samoa of kissing someone on the lips and fans believe that the reality star’s mother is just weird. Kalani’s whose father Low, is a native of Samoa had no knowledge of this either since she was just as taken aback.
Fans were left cringing after the two locked lips and hope it does not happen again. TLC fans also know that Kalini gets into an altercation with her husband’s half-sister over giving the family money. While it may be a tradition there must be a stopping point when you have a family of your own to raise.
90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? airs Sunday at 8pm EST on TLC.
