Even vampires need love. Throughout the years, romance has been a recurring theme in vampire media. Popular TV series, including True Blood, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Vampire Diaries have featured noteworthy vampire couples and romances in their storylines, serving as a source of tension, lust, and character development.

While there have been a few full-fledged vampire couples and unions with other supernatural creatures, the most prominent pairings have been with humans. These couples have stuck with viewers and were chosen based on their unequivocal bond, electric chemistry, and profound passion - all of whom proved that just because you are dead, doesn't mean your love has to be.

10 Mina & Dracula From Dracula

Contrary to their relationship in the novel, Dracula was interested in Mina not for sustenance, but romantically. In Dracula, it was explained that Mina was the reincarnation of Dracula's deceased wife and he was under the guise of Alexander Grayson.

As they become acquainted, they find each other falling in love, but were initially dissuaded by Mina's fiance, Harker. By the end of the series, Mina learns the truth and they become an item. Sadly, the series' cancellation halted further development of their relationship.

9 Vlad & Lisa From Castlevania

In Castlevania, Lisa was the love of Vlad aka Dracula's life. When they first met, Vlad had an incorrigible disdain for humanity. She encouraged her future husband to give them a chance and that he did, having later traveled the world to learn more about them.

They later married and had a son, before Lisa was persecuted as a witch (the villagers mistaking her medical equipment for witchcraft) and was burned at the stake. Together, they shared their love of knowledge, their son Adrian (now Alucard), and appreciation for humanity, before Lisa's unfateful death.

8 Lily Munster & Herman Munster From The Munsters

In The Munsters, Lily was a vampire, her husband Herman was Frankenstein's monster and their son Eddie was a werewolf. As a couple, they worked as a team and had each other's best interests at heart.

Herman occasionally got on Lily's nerves with his obliviousness, but deep down, he knew she loved him very much. The pair had been married since 1865 and were one of the longest-married couples on TV.

7 Aidan & Sally From Being Human (Canadian Version)

Aidan was a vampire and Sally was a ghost who became roommates after Aidan and Sam moved into an apartment that Sally was haunting.

In Being Human, they became best friends and turned to each other whenever they wanted to chat or hang out. Both having tragic backstories, they understood each other better than anyone else. In an alternate timeline, they were a couple but ended up breaking up. Fortunately, in their current timeline, they realized they loved each other and became a couple.

6 Damon & Elena From The Vampire Diaries

Starting out on not the best of terms, Elena (who was a human) eventually realized Damon wasn't just the sinister vampire everyone deemed him to be.

Over the span of the series, they became friends, best friends, lovers, boyfriend and girlfriend, and eventually husband and wife. Their devotion, love, and loyalty to each other knew no bounds. Their relationship proved they could overcome any challenge.

5 Mitchell & Annie From Being Human (UK Version)

Both being undead, with Mitchell a vampire and Annie a ghost, there was an instant connection. Mitchell helped Annie face her fears and finally coaxed her into getting out of the house.

They later realized their feelings and become an item, however, they faced some obstacles down the line, including when Mitchell killed 20 people and kept it from her. At the end of the series, they end up together in heaven and couldn't be more in love.

4 Eric North & Sookie Stackhouse From True Blood

In the first season, Sookie was dating vampire Bill Compton and viewed Eric as trouble. She later helped him find his maker, Godric, and after being tricked into drinking his blood, they established a bond. Sookie tried to keep her mind off Eric but found herself falling for him.

When it was revealed she was half fairie, he was determined to protect her and they later proclaimed their love. However, due to some complications and Sookie's desire for normalcy, they didn't stay together, but it was hinted that Eric would always keep his eye on her.

3 Laszlo & Nadja From What We Do In The Shadows

What We Do In The Shadow's Nadja had numerous relationships before meeting Laszlo. She seduced the then-recent widower and turned him into a vampire.

They were eventually married and they moved to America from Europe in 1861 to escape anti-vampire prejudice. Having been together for over 200 years, they managed to keep their relationship interesting, collaborating as a musical duo and touring together during the 18th and 19th centuries. Despite their occasional spats and affairs, the two have an undying love that has stood the test of time, even with Laszlo's cursed hat.

2 Buffy & Angel From Buffy The Vampire Slayer

As a slayer, Buffy was tasked with terminating any vampire who came her way. However, some complications arose when she met Angel and fell in love. Before they met, Angel had a torrid past and slaughtered many innocents. Yet, after his soul was rejuvenated, he moved to America to escape his former identity and was committed to being good.

Their relationship suffered some setbacks following a misunderstanding and Angel unintentionally reverting to his old ways. Before his departure, Angel felt the best chance for Buffy's happiness was that he was no longer involved.

1 Marceline & Princess Bubblegum From Adventure Time

Marceline and Bubblegum's first interaction in the series was prickly. Marceline would tease P.B., much to the latter's chagrin. As Adventure Time progressed, it was hinted they had a relationship before the series began, but that there was a falling out. Nonetheless, they still cared about each other and their feelings started rekindling as they spent more time together.

Near the end of the Stakes miniseries, Marceline became mortal and then a vampire again. When asked if she regretted this, she said she looked forward to spending eternity with P.B. (causing P.B. to blush). At the end of the series, they shared a celebratory kiss and were later seen snuggling on the couch together.
